Bistro Corner (비스트로 코너) is my favorite hamburger place in Ilsan so far. There are a couple of other places that are okay and some that I have yet to check out but I’ve been coming to Corner Bistro for years and they make a solid burger and great fries. Locals often call it Corner Bistro or just Bistro.
The staff are super friendly and the place has a nice cozy atmosphere.
They mostly serve burgers but they do have a few other menu items like salads and fish n’ chips. However I’ve not heard good things about the other items so I just stick to the burgers. The prices are reasonable and they have a nice range of different burgers to choose from. You order at the bar but they will bring your food to your table when it’s ready. They cook to order so it can take a while for it to come out. If you are in a hurry it may not be the best option.
My favorite burger is the Bacon Cheeseburger. I’m not very adventurous with my burgers and like to stick to the tried and tested.
I’ve been here many times with different people who have tried the other burgers so I always ask them how it was. The Mushroom Burger is apparently very good and was a firm favorite of a few of my friends. When my parents were over my Mum enjoyed the Garlic Chicken Burger.
You can get all the burgers with a set that includes fries and a soda. For a bit extra you can change the drink to a beer instead of soda. The fries are very good as they are the seasoned type so are very tasty. I think they are some of the best fries I’ve had in Korea.
One thing to note is that they don’t always have all the menu items available. We were there a few weeks ago and my friend ordered the Chicken Salad but unfortunately they did not have the ingredients for it. So be aware that not all menu items are available at all times; it depends on what they have in stock. I’ve never had any trouble with the burgers it’s usually just the other menu items.
Another popular burger that a few of my friends enjoy is the Jack Sauce Burger (pictured below). It has onion rings in it which is apparently very good. I’m not a fan of onion rings so I don’t get this one. You can order onion rings as a side dish too. I’ve also had a few friends very happy that to find they have Dr. Pepper available here.
I’ve taken a picky vegetarian here and the staff were very accommodating. They do have a Vege Burger on the menu. They were able to mix that with the mushroom burger without the meat for her to make something that she found agreeable.
If you have been in Korea for a while then you will know how hard it is to get restaurants to change menu items. It’s just not part of their mindset; even something as simple as asking them to leave out an item can be very hard. Bistro is not like that and are very helpful. I’ve never had any trouble with simple things like asking them to leave off the onion. They also have an ‘Extra Topping’ menu so you can add to your burger to suit your own taste if need be.
The drinks menu is okay but nothing amazing. They have a small range of beer and cocktails along with the usual sodas. They do offer takeout too but that can depend on if they have the stock available.
