Allumare Coffee Roasters (알루마레 커피로스터스) is a nice, quite little cafe. I’ve been here a few times to meet a friend who lives in Hwajeong. She likes to come here to work on her computer sometimes. The cafe has a country vibe with lots of plants and dried flowers hanging up all over the walls.
The menu is all in Korean so if you can’t read Hangul then you might have some trouble but I am sure you can just ask for what you want and it will be fine. I can read Korean but I’m not great at it and it usually takes me a while.
I already knew what I wanted so I just asked for an ‘Iced Choco’ and I had no problems. It cost 5,000 won which is not too bad for an Iced Chocolate. My friend got a Cafe Latte and some Earl Grey Cookies. They don’t have a lot of food but they have some small items like cookies and macarons.
The drinks looked good; mine had marshmallow in it which is always good. Taste wise they were okay. My friend she her Cafe Latte was fine but not spectacular or anything. She did like the cookies better though. I didn’t try them as I don’t care for tea flavors. My Iced Chocolate more sweet than chocolatey probably because of the marshmallows. It was not too bad and I have ordered it again since that first time.
The second time I visited, when I ordered my Iced Choco, the barista asked it I wanted it toasted. Of course, I was like ‘okay sure’. It did take a lot longer to make but it was worth the wait. It was very similar to the first version except the marshmallow on the top was melted and toasted. It was sweet, creamy and delicious and was also 5,000 won. I would and most probably will get this again.
I also got a ‘Raspberry and Chocolate Macaron for 2,000 won. It was okay but nothing special. Not sure if it was worth 2,000 won.
