This bar is a little hidden gem in Ilsan. They only have a Korean name 지느러미 빠 (Jineureomi Bar) which I think would translate into Fin Bar in English. It has a picture of a fish tail on the sign. Perhaps when looking at it from the outside it may look like a fish restaurant but it is most assuredly not.
It’s in the same building as the Mo Pasta and Blackstone restaurants and is on the second floor. It looks like you are entering a cave at the entrance but then once you get in it opens up into a large and spacious area. They have low lighting and lots of lanterns which give it a soft, golden glow. There is also a large pond water feature in the middle of the room.
This is one of the sit-on-the-floor type places and so you have to take your shoes off at the entrance. They give you a little bag to keep your shoes in as you go into the bar. It’s table service and then you pay as you leave.
I really like this place because of it’s big space and low-key ambiance. The music is background so you can actually talk. There are large seating areas to relax in with cushions around the tables. The tables are spread out nicely so you are not too close to the other tables and it feels quite private.
Drinks were okay but I’m a picky drinker so most people would probably be quite happy with the selection. They do have a large range of beer, wine, spirits and cocktails to choose from. I have had some cocktails. They cost about 12,000 won and were average but presented very nicely.
They have some side dishes available but it’s mainly just snack type food. It’s not a restaurant.
This is definitely a place I will go back to as it was such a good space. The staff were very pleasant too despite my lack of Korean language skills.
